Let's Talk Training

Knowledgeable CrossFit Trainers Are The Difference
Beth Goodson

I began doing CrossFit several years ago and immediately fell in love with the concept and the success of the people around me. If you’ve never been to a CrossFit box, you’re missing out on what makes it so amazing. The community is infectious, and trust me… this is a kool-aid you want to drink. The amount of people touched and changed in a positive way by CrossFit is nothing short of awe inspiring.

Through CrossFit I discovered Powerlifting… bench, squat, deadlift as much weight as possible. I’ve competed in the UPA, and currently hold the state record in all three lifts in the 75kg weight class. I plan to compete in the USPA this year and I will (hopefully) hit a combined total that will qualify me to compete at Nationals in Las Vegas next year. I have been active, competitive and involved in some sort of sport throughout my entire life. I’ve played basketball, softball, ran cross-country and I was a cheerleader in high school. I spent the majority of my adult life distance running.

After dabbling in several fitness modalities, I have to say there is something uniquely therapeutic about lifting heavy shit and putting it down. Soon after I began CrossFit I knew it was a gift I wanted to share. I received my CF-L1 cert approximately 2 years ago, and I have coached since then. I spend the majority of my down time researching and learning how to guide people toward their fitness goals. In addition to my CF-L1, I am also a CrossFit Endurance Trainer and a certified powerlifting coach through the USPA.

When you don’t see me at the gym, I am spending time with my three beautiful daughters. Professionally, I am an EMT working on my Paramedic certification at PVCC. I’m currently working as an intern at a local fire/medical department, and I’m in the process of enlisting in the US Air Force Reserve as a Firefighter. I served 5 years in the US Navy, and I’m a former Police Officer.

My one piece of advice… If you’re reading this and you’re thinking of trying it, do it. Don’t wait. No, you don’t need to “get in shape” to start CrossFit. I spent 6 months watching people doing it while my daughters were in swim class. I kept telling myself I wasn’t in shape. I was shy. I was embarrassed. I was wrong. It was 6 months I could’ve spent discovering the amazing things my body is capable of. Come in and get your fit on!

Best,
Beth
